Thoughts on winning a vacation :)

Spoke with the representative at the travel company who hosted the sweepstakes for the Arizona Golf Getaway package that I won, and everything on my end has been finalized and I should be receiving the final copies of everything I need to plan my trip this spring (we're aiming for April). Now that things have been resolved on my end I can finally stop worrying about everything and get really excited!! This trip will be a huge deal for me. My boyfriend and I will be flying to Arizona for about a week of resort stays, fine dining, theater, and golf for free thanks to this sweepstakes! While we're there, we're thinking of things to do and places to see- I am so unbelievably psyched to see the Grand Canyon, and he is hoping to go to a Coyotes game.

I still have to figure out whether we will rent a car while we're there or rely on resort shuttles and public transportation. Renting a car is expensive but it's much more convenient to be on our own schedule and have it available. Rental will be a few hundred bucks if we do it for the whole week, plus fees because we're youngsters in car rental world (under 25...dang). But I found cash back options for both Enterprise and Avis on Ebates, so we would end up saving some money that way. I will hash out all those details when I get all the information and pick dates.

I am also excited to have this all solidified as a serious motivator for me to get in shape and keep eating healthy as part of my 2012 goal. I want to be resort pool ready by the time we get there!

In looking at all the details, I realize there are better sweepstakes I could have won. Technically I don't golf (I putt, sure, but I think I will whiff my first few drives), but my boyfriend does, and the courses out there are really impressive. Also, travel wasn't included, so that is an extra expense, but it helps keep the tax costs down. Any way I look at it, if I were to take this trip without having won the benefits, it would dig pretty seriously into my pockets.

I still enter travel sweepstakes, especially international ones, hoping to win a trip on a safari or a chance to travel back to the jungle (my month in Peru was one of the most amazing things I've ever done) so my fingers are always figuratively crossed to win another trip.

Want to win one? Check out my post here for a list of US vacation sweeps that I've recently entered.
