Get Paid to Make a Difference

A few weeks ago, I posted a little information about getting involved in volunteering in your area with links to some super helpful volunteer databases, like Volunteermatch. I hope that you took a look around some of the websites and maybe found a fun way to spend some of your free time.

This time around, I decided to share some great resources for making a positive difference and getting paid to do it! No, I don't mean some scam...I just mean getting a job in the non-profit sector. There are tons and tons of charitable organizations in this country, and lots more corporations with an emphasis on social responsibility: so who's running all these great groups? You could be. I would love to work in non-profit administration (it's on my list of things), and for anyone who might feel the same, here are just a few resources if you don't know where to begin finding work at a non-profit.

These websites can help you learn about civic issues, keep up with non-profit news, and help you find a job. All links will open in a new tab/window.

If nothing suits your fancy, think of a cause you care about, find an organization devoted to it near you, and check out their job listings. Use your friends, family and professional connections to find out who's looking and for what. You'd be surprised at who really knows the non-profit scoop and  how many organizations are in need.

  1. Wish more people would do this...if not for the awareness alone.

Thanks for your input!
