PJs Organics and Nate's Meatless {Review and Giveaway}

PJ’s Organics is a fresh take on frozen food. Got a craving for Taco Bell? Skip it and opt for PJ’s without any of the guilt and like 1/10th the calories. PJ’s burritos are organic, filling and tasty.

I was able to try three varieties of PJ’s burritos, all of which I enjoyed. The new Skinny Burrito will satisfy your hunger for Mexican food without any “junk food” regret afterward, and all of PJ’s products are made with USDA Organic ingredients, locally sourced when possible.

The Skinny Burrito is just 310 Calories, with 2g of fat, 15g of protein, and 4g of fiber to help keep you full without all the fat. When trying to eat better, beans and whole grain rice are great options to feel fuller longer and PJ’s features these ingredients in most of their products. I also tried the Southwestern Style chicken and the Steak and Cheese burritos, the former being my favorite. I paired my chicken burrito, which is a delicious tortilla wrapped around white-meat chicken, black beans, Monterrey Jack cheese, corn and rice, with some Mexican-style rice with cumin and green peppers and made a lovely little meal. I paired the Steak and Cheese burrito with some whole wheat macaroni and cheese. I will definitely be back for these burritos. They are so well seasoned without overdoing it, and make a quick, healthy meal.

One complaint I have seen mentioned in many reviews is that there is too much tortilla. While I can definitely see why people say so, I don’t see it as a negative necessarily. PJs prides themselves on their hand-rolled tortillas and I am one of those people that will eat the plain tortilla edge on a quesadilla, so I don’t have this same complaint. The tortilla to me seemed light and not too overwhelming, but if you don’t like it, tear it off and don’t eat it. Simple solution.

I was also able to sample Nate’s Meatless Meatballs in Savory Mushroom flavor. Before you read this paragraph, here’s something to keep in mind: I despise meatballs with a fiery passion. I don’t eat ground beef. When I was little, my parents wanted me to eat just one meatball with my pasta but I refused, and that meatball and I sat in a stalemate for hours until my parents threw in the towel. So when I say I liked these meatballs, you need to realize just what that means. It’s impressive. It’s hard to describe the taste specifically, I’m no “Chopped” judge, but they are sort of rich tasting, not the way I expect soy meatballs to taste, and I love the mushroom flavor. I'm not a vegetarian but I believe I've found my new meatball method.

  6. I've wanted to try this brand for a while now and know that my hubby would love it. One way to get rid of too much tortilla is to cover it with salsa or cheese or both! LOL
